WINGARD, William “Cecil”, 99, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 1 PM, at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by his Funeral Service at 2 pm, with Byron Golden officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Snowdoun. Mr. Wingard was born February 11, 1919, on “Possum Trot”, Beat 14, Elmore County, and grew up in Deatsville, attending Holtville High School. He served 2 ½ years during WWII in Northern France and Central Europe with the 6981st Infantry Rifle Company. He retired from the Seaboard Coastline Railroad (CSX) after 40 years of employment. He was a Mason since 1943, at Lodge # 475 in Deatsville, Alabama, and attended Morningview Baptist Church and Capitol Heights Baptist Church. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening and canning what he grew, and attending family reunions. Mr. Wingard was preceded in death by his father, William O. Wingard; mother, Lillie A. Garner Wingard; step-mother, Lennie E. Grier Thomas Wingard; wife, Katie Malie Cobb Wingard; son, Joseph Cecil Wingard; & daughter-in-law, Sherry K. Maske Wingard. Survivors include his sons, John W. Wingard, Robert W. (Veronica) Wingard, Paul A. (Donna) Wingard, & Dave B. Wingard; brother-in-law, Robert Z. (June) Cobb; sister-in-law, Dolores McLaughlin; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
