Charles C. Hawkins

Charles was born on September 15, 1938 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a master plumber and master gas fitter but also a construction superintendent for various mechanical contracting companies for nearly fifty years. Charles will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and dry wit. He was a devoted husband and father and a master storyteller. He enjoyed gardening and spending time on the farm.

Charles will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and Murphy, his canine companion for the past fifteen years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles C. Hawkins, Sr.; and mother, Sarah Hartley.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of nearly sixty years, Julianne B. Hawkins; children, Carey Hawkins, Jeff Hawkins (Denise), Elizabeth Allen (Tim); grandchildren, Andrew Hawkins, Michael Hawkins, Taylor MacKeigan; and five great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 20, 2016 at Leak Memory Chapel with Reverend Anthony Counts officiating followed by the burial at Greenwood Serenity Cemetery. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, prior to the service. Leak Memory Chapel is directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Mountain View Baptist Church, Wetumpka, AL.
