Mr. Charles Ernest McIver, Sr., Son to the late Elliot and Eloise (Miller) McIver was born on August 24, 1930, in Savannah, GA. He confessed Christ and attended Jerusalem MBC with friends and extended family. 2013 he moved in with his youngest son and family and begin to attend Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 2014 until the COVID 2019 Pandemic.
Mr. Charles E. McIver, at the age of 20 first joined the United States Army on June 12, 1951. He achieved the United States Armed Forces, from Madison Wisconsin “Tests of General Educational Development, High School Level” in May 1955. Before joining the United States Air Force at the age of 31 on November 8, 1961; he married Mattie Pearl Jackson on December 23, 1960. The matrimony lasted for 43 years until her death on March 30, 2003. In 1966 he returned to the United States Army. During his time in service, he was awarded The Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, one Overseas Bar and a Combat Infantry Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and The Army Commendation Medal to retire as a Specialist 6 on November 1, 1972 after 21 years of service. He then transferred to the USAR in Fort Bliss, TX
After retiring from the military Mr. Charles began to work as an Electrician with Von Gal and would retire after many years. He enjoyed his family, particularly, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also, enjoyed attending Mt. Sanai Community Center, where he was loved by all the ladies. He will be remembered most for his laughter, enjoyment of the outdoors, working on cars, running around the house with a screwdriver fixing things and watching Alabama Football “GO ALABAMA” is what you could hear from his room whenever they played.
Loved ones left to cherish his memories are: daughter Ernestine (David) Britt; sons Charles E. (Amber) McIver, Jr. and Minister Richard (Sharifay) McIver; Grandchildren: Michaela, Janna, Omari, Jonah, Dominique, Samuel, Desiree, Charles III, Anthony, and Brandon. Great-grandchildren: Kalayah and Kaireek, Sister-in-Law Cora Nuckles and a few nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Betty Jones, Mother of Sharifay J. McIver, who would visit with home cooked meals and gifts and would look after him when her daughter and family would travel.
Mrs. Tiffany Phelps, Care Giver when he was sent home on Hospice. She would read the Bible to him and they would pray together. She was there until the end, we thank you for all that you did, especially for the prayers and loving him like you knew him all your life.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday Dec 17 at 1:00 PM at Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Elmore. With burial immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery Serenity Gardens.
