Christine Macon Steinberg,89,a resident of Montgomery died Thursday, August 30, 2012 peacefully in her home. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 4, at 2:00 p.m.at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Lawson Bryan and Dr. Karl Stegall officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan James Steinberg of Tuskegee where he owned Tuskegee Wholesale Grocery before moving his family to Montgomery in 1967;siblings,James Bernard Macon, Clyde Mae Macon Waites, Thomas Chester Macon, Talmage Douglas Macon and Raymond Lee Macon. She is survived by a sister, Mary Kate Hammond, Montgomery; children, Debra Steinberg Miraglia of Vero Beach, FL., James Daryl Steinberg (Elon) of Montgomery; grandchildren, Margaret Macon Steinberg and Crawford Nathan Steinberg. Christine was a member of First United Methodist Church serving as president of United Methodist Women, member of the Finance Committee, Administrative Board, UMW Circle 1 and Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class. Gran enjoyed working in her garden and sharing flowers with friends, family and her church. The family would like to thank Ida Lucas, Betty Parker, Linda Lucas, Jackie Shanklin, Carla Perry, Beulah Webster, Misty Johnson, Catherine McCurdy and Melissa Cobb for their special love and care.
