He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald B. Mason and Mae Weaver Mason; and his siblings, Geraldine Merriman, Gene Mason, and Florence Mason.
He is survived by his niece, Dianne (George) Dennis, great-nephew David T. Melton (Sylvia) and their children, Corey, Hannah, Zack, and Ashley Melton. The family wishes to acknowledge the ICU team at Baptist Medical Center East, and especially the Hospice Team of Melissa, Angi, Brenda, Sharon, and Nate. Their compassion, sympathy, and professionalism is beyond reproach.
Service will be held at the VA National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Tuesday, August 17, 2026 at 1:15 PM.
