

Born in Starkville, Mississippi, he was the eldest child in a military family, living in Germany, Japan, and the US. Bud graduated from Mississippi State University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He served his country first in the US Active Army, serving first at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, then Viet Nam, and in Belgium. He chose a leadership role with the Alabama National Guard for the remainder of his career, providing guidance to the ALNG in peace time as well as preparation for war.
Bud was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, devoted to his family, extended family, and friends. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carroll Blythe Stiles, his son David Berry Nason with wife and loving daughter in law Christy S. Nason, and his grandson Conner Lee Nason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Condee Conner Nason, Sr and Marie Berry Nason, and his brother, James Berry Nason, and his sister, Teresa Nason Duckworth.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM followed by a reception at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 113 Madison Ave. Montgomery, AL, 334.262.1937. Internment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, 909 Lincoln Rd. Montgomery, AL.
Family and Friends visitation and viewing is scheduled for Friday afternoon from 4:00-6:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel.
In the words of the many people he met who respected him, Bud will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his leadership, his strong character, his equal treatment to everyone, and that he was a role model and mentor.
