Cynthia “Jane” Syfrett Knight, 92, of Montgomery, Alabama, went to greet her Savior on September 23, 2026. She was born on July 14, 1934, in Montgomery, to James Ralph Syfrett and Daisy Bell (Poitevint) Syfrett. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sisters Ann Conyers of Bristol, Florida, and Anita Warren of Montgomery, Alabama.
Graduating from Lanier High School in 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Knight, who was enlisted in the United States Air Force. They soon began traveling to Air Force stations in Texas, Illinois, and even France. Jane enjoyed her time residing in France and often spoke of her experiences there. After his enlistment, Bill and Jane moved home to Montgomery, where they remained for the next seventy years. Jane worked at Syfrett Realty, enjoyed roses and her rose garden, and was an accomplished seamstress.
Jane is survived by her loving and devoted husband of seventy-four years, Bill Knight; two-daughters, Cheryl” Cherry” K. Burk (Charles) of Lincoln, Alabama and Kimberly K. Bush (Sherman) of Northport, AL; two grand-daughters, Susan Bush of Northport, Alabama, and Lauren Bell (Chris) of Carrollton, Alabama; and four great-grandsons, Evan Bush and Easton, Wyatt and Sawyer Bell. She is also survived by her loving sister, Nancy Syfrett Flemming of Tampa, Florida, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jane was blessed with several devoted caretakers during her final years that brought her great comfort and companionship.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home in Montgomery, with interment to follow. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
