

DeVaughn, Daniel W. 74, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, passed peacefully at home on February 6, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel Z. and Minnie M. DeVaughn. Daniel graduated from Sidney Lanier HS in 1969 and received a BS in business from Huntingdon College in 1973, graduating with honors. He worked his whole career and retired from Alabama Department of Revenue as the Deputy Commissioner.
Survived by cousins George (Claudia) DeVaughn and David DeVaughn, all of Saltillo, MS.
Other cousins, Arthur (Mary) DeVaughn and children Emily DeVaughn and Zack DeVaughn, all of Saltillo, MS;
Randy DeVaughn and daughter Jessica of Fulton, MS;
Bill (Sheri) Sheffield and children Carlin and Susanna of Roswell, GA and Chris Sheffield of Mantachie, MS., Carolyn Breakfield, Florence, AL. Daniel was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montgomery, Alabama.
Was an avid fan of NASCAR dating back to Dale Earnhardt era, enjoyed coin collecting, and keeping abreast of politics. The family wishes to thank Daniel’s faithful and devoted neighbors during his illness for caring for him and his adored 3 cats, Angel, Peanut and Scooter. In lieu of flowers, Dan would have wanted Memorial contributions to go to the Montgomery Humane Society.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4475 Atlanta Highway. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with The Rev. Steve Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Arnold, Paul Behringer, Steve Dradzynski, John Harris, Mike Nisbet, and Steve Nightengale.
