Danny passed peacefully away at his home in Montgomery, AL on Monday the 20th of June. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Amanda Dornbrack, parents, Laura and Tony Dornbrack, brothers, David and Douglas Dornbrack and their families, also his in-laws, Maryann and Stephen Kline.
Danny was extremely gifted with computers and was the ‘go to guy’ when anyone needed help. He earned a Master's degree in Data Base Management in 2013 from Colorado Tech, Colorado Springs, CO.
Family and friends were the two most important things in Danny’s life and his greatest joy was spending time with them. Jed and Brant were two of his closest friends. Jed shared a love for the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons with Danny; sessions of which could last for weeks. More importantly, in Jed’s eyes, Danny wasn’t just a friend; he was a brother.
Brant, another of Danny’s oldest friends, remembers him as loyal, serious, stubborn, and studious. He recalls some of his fondest memories, such as Danny’s love for games like Metroid and Heroes Unlimited where they created worlds and solved whatever problems they could come up with. Danny always maintained a positive, focused and determined attitude despite his chronic health challenges with everything he pursued. A complex man. Danny was passionate about many things.
Danny was also an avid reader enjoying mostly science fiction and fantasy genres. Along the same theme, Danny was crazy for EVERYTHING FAIRY, the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and Celtic culture, amassing a huge collection of books, figurines, artwork and
garden ornaments. One of his favorite garden plaques read “Don’t Piss Off the Fairies”
Douglas and Miah remembered that Danny had a bumper sticker outside his bedroom door at his parent’s home which read “A day without Fairies is like a day without sunshine”. I think that sums Danny up perfectly.
He was awarded the Boy Scout’s highest honor, that of Eagle Scout in his teens. Danny really loved the out of doors, always up for disc golf, hiking, backpacking, and camping; even in the dead of winter; He was nuts!
One thing Danny took very seriously was food! His search for the ultimate Italian restaurant was legendary. Cooking for Danny was difficult at best and always a challenge. He enjoyed three things, Pasta, Potatoes, and Protein, that’s pretty much it! He avoided vegetables like they were poison. However, the one thing he couldn’t get enough of was anything Italian. He often helped Maryann in the kitchen making homemade lasagna and ravioli.
His two wishes were, one, that his ashes be scattered at his favorite places in his beloved mountains of Colorado and two, that his friends and family get together for a party celebrating his life with stories and laughter toasting him with Mt. Dew, Live Wire if you can find it!
Danny my friend, my love, you are sorely missed.
