David Harrison Graydon, of Montgomery, Alabama unexpectedly passed away on August 18th, 2024. David was born on August 20th, 1958 to William Harrison Graydon Jr. ("Big Daddy") and Joy Rawls Newsome. As a Certified Public Accountant, his ambition and determination drove him to start his own accounting firm, which provided services to a host of clients in the Montgomery area for over three decades. A proud alumnus of the University of Alabama, he loved Alabama football. Saturdays in the fall were sacred in the house of David Graydon.
In life, David lived with that same genuine passion. He loved to compete, whether it was ping pong, volleyball, or a video game, David was an unrelenting competitor. He brought that same vigor to food as well. The mornings in his house were filled with the smells of bacon, eggs, and biscuits. Nights were more varied with perfectly-grilled ribeye, home-made chicken wings, and if you were really lucky, slow-cooked Boston butt.
David was an independent thinker, cool and calm, but intense. He had a striking authenticity about him that gave his judgments weight and authority. His transparency and candor was artfully balanced with a playful sense of humor and a sharp wit. For these reasons, people were drawn to David. Blonde women, in particular.
David is predeceased by his father, William Graydon Jr, his loving step-mother, Bricy Graydon ("Big Mamma"), his mother, Joy Rawls Newsome, and his son, William David Graydon. He is survived by his sister, Linda Graydon Dowe, his brother, Mike Graydon, and his two children, William "Harrison" Graydon III and Virginia Wendy Graydon. David will be greatly missed.
A family and friends visitation for David will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109. Following the family and friends visitation will be a celebration of life graveside service at 10:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.
