David Lane Mimm

September 5, 1965March 1, 2020

David Lane Mimm of Montgomery, AL was born and raised in Miami, FL. David passed away on March 1, 2020 while serving in the line of duty as a paramedic with Care Ambulance.

David was a die-hard Hurricanes and Dolphins fan. He followed both teams closely - regardless of their success that year. David was extremely proud of his service in the U. S. Army, from 1984 to 1987 in the 1st infantry division out of Ft. Riley, Kansas. He served as a medic and did two tours.

David moved to Montgomery in 1987 and became a licensed paramedic in 1988. He was a paramedic for over 30 years, training and mentoring dozens of young medics. David has been employee of the month and was even awarded the Protect and Serve Award by WAKA in 2001.

David met his wife Liz at Care Ambulance in 1997 and they were married in 1998. He became step-father to Liz’s 15 year old daughter, Teresa. They had two children together, David, Jr. in 2000 and Dawson in 2006.

David loved taking trips with the family, both big and small. He loved fishing, cooking out, company softball meets and coached little league baseball for both of his boys. David loved animals of all kinds, but especially took pride in his fish tanks filled with beautiful and colorful fish, and his dogs.

David was preceded in death by his mother Marilyn and his father Donald. He is survived by his immediate family of his wife Elizabeth Mimm, his sons David Jr. (Shakira) and Dawson, and his step-daughter Teresa Anzulovic (Daniel). He is also survived by his siblings Cheryl Rieser (Michael), Donald Mimm (Dana), Paula Roberts (Nathan), Lisa Petric (Mark), his nieces and nephews John-Mark Rieser, Lillian Pottmeyer (Joshua), Esther Diastello (Anthony), Jaclyn Blain (Doug), Aaron Mimm, Dana Pryce (Devon), Emannuel Class (Clare), Emilia Class, Daniel Mimm (Christina), Miguel Class (Kim), Danielle Roberts, Nicole Roberts, Clayton Roberts, and several great nieces and nephews.

David was loved and respected by all who knew him and his family will never forget the way he touched their lives. He will live on forever in our hearts.

Truly one of a kind. David and I started working together in the 90's and his grace, clinical expertise and genuine love for his family was easy to see. He fell head over heels in love with Liz. He had a work ethic like no other but always put his family as his priority. Alabama has lost a great EMS Professional and his family has lost a great husband and father. I'll miss you my friend.

While I worked with David on few occasions, when I worked at Care Ambulance, it was obvious that he knew his job well!! I think it was the first time we rode together that He and I shared stories about our dogs. After that he was a breeze to ride with. He was laid back which made for a great shift. Im sure he will truly be missed at Care.
Liz, there are no words to even start to express how deeply sorry I am that you lost the love of your life.
Lastly, on behalf of 3rd shift at Montgomery E911, we send our deepest and most sincere condolences for you and the family's loss. We will continue to pray your strength.

Met and worked with David when he first started in Montgomery. Always carried a smile. Some people affect your life in the positive. David was one of those people. My deepest thought and sympathy for family and friends. Later on, David.

To know you, David, is to love you and love you is what all who knew you did. If there was one who didn't, I remain unaware. As your oldest sister I have been watching many a year. I will continue to watch your family grow and change even though I no longer see you here. It seems too long, but I will see you on the better side. Love on Jesus until I come. Sherry

I remember working some with David more so as a paramedic student. David would always be telling jokes but if I ever had a question or needed help with school or field related he would be there. EMS has lost a truly special individual and brother.

I met David when I rode my rotations when I was in EMT class a few years back. I got the pleasure of ride with him on one of my rotations and he was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from him in the one shift that I will always remember through out my EMS career
