Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Ike and Bea Weber, of Columbiana, OH. He is survived by Karen, his loving wife of 43 years; his daughters Emily (Robby) Trione and Lizzie (Andy) Weber Jones; son Bob (Rebekah) Weber; 8 beautiful grandchildren- Charlotte, Sam and Denny Trione, Walter and Elliott Jones, and Levi, Lilly, and Jack Weber; brother David Weber; and many wonderful friends.
Dennis was born and raised in Columbiana, Ohio, in a loving home filled with laughter and good cooking. He grew up hunting and fishing in the woods around his home. He attended the Ohio State University and received a degree in Turfgrass Management. He then went to work in south Florida for golfer Jack Nicklaus, building and managing several new golf courses. It was there that he met the love of his life, his beautiful bride Karen. They built a wonderful life together, raising 3 children and living in Florida, the mountains of North Carolina, and finally settling in Montgomery, Alabama. Dennis was dedicated to his job at Wynlakes Golf and Country Club, where he worked for 28 years. He managed the course and his employees with dedication, compassion, and a lot of common sense. Dennis was a devoted member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he headed up many church picnics and the mowing crew for many years. He also served in various ways at Montgomery Catholic High School, where all of his children attended.
Dennis was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He enjoyed fishing, getting out in the woods, building giant bonfires, coaching his kids’ sports teams, shooting off enormous fireworks displays, cooking his famous “hamburgs” and homemade french fries, teasing his wife, and wrestling and tickling his grandchildren. He was the most devoted father imaginable, and always his children’s biggest cheerleader and problem-solver. He loved his sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, and was always there to support them. His 8 grandchildren gave him great joy and many laughs, and he loved to play with them. Dennis had many close friends over the years, especially his Friday night gang, who are basically family by now.
Despite many health challenges over the years, Dennis was extremely resilient, and (almost) always managed to bounce back to health. He loved to be outside on the mower, and was a hard worker all of his life. Dennis was a humble man and never liked to be the center of attention, but he was kind and generous, and showed this by his actions. He was a great listener, and would do anything to help anyone that needed it.
Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 5-7 pm. The funeral service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, Nov. 8 at 11:00 am, with words of remembrance beginning at 10:30 am.
His brother-in-law, Reverend Dennis Metzger will preside.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, a charity which Dennis served with diligence.
