

Donald L. Hammond (Don), SFA, USA (Ret) age 88 of Montgomery, AL, passed away on March 29, 2026. His funeral will be held at Leak Memory Chapel. He was baptized in faith and was an active member of Fairview Methodist Church.
Don was preceded by his beloved wife of 40 years, Gerald Dean (Jerrye); his parents, Maj. Lyle R. and Militza Hammond; and his son, Charles H. (Chip) Bryant, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Trish) Hogan; his son, Paul R. Bryant; and daughter-in-law, Donna Bryant; along with six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
During his twenty-year Army career, he served in several countries including two tours in Vietnam and was an instructor at the Army Signal Corps Photographic School for two and a half years. Following his Army retirement, he moved to Montgomery and went to work for several civilian photographic contractors at Maxwell AFB and then went to work for the Air Force Civil Service from which he again retired. During his time at Maxwell, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State University and a Master of Science Degree in Military History from the University of Alabama.
To Don the priorities in his life became his Lord, his family, and his country.
Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, US, on April 6, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, US, on April 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm, with a Graveside Service to follow.
