Donna Marie Lignon
February 8, 1944 – July 22, 2020
Donna Lignon passed through the door of life on July 22, 2020 in Montgomery, Alabama.
She will be laid to rest in Enon Cemetery in Enon, Ohio 11:00 am, Saturday, August 1, 2020.
Donna was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Clem and Mary Robinson on February 8, 1944. The family moved to Manchester, New Hampshire when Donna was 11 years old where she graduated from Memorial High School. She married Del Grube and they had two sons, Steve and Kenny, before moving to Springfield, Ohio in 1964. Five years later, while expecting their 3rd child, Jeff, Del had an accident and was taken from the young family much too early. Donna later married Gerry Lignon, whose career in the Air Force allowed the family to travel the world. They moved between Turkey, California and Spain before retiring in Melbourne Florida, where they lived for the next 25 years. Donna’s passion in life was always her family. Her nurturing spirit and selfless devotion inspired the raising of equally caring children. As they matured, she began a 30 year career in retail where her calling to serve others helped her thrive. She was working at Macy’s in 2011 when she and Gerry moved to Montgomery, AL.
Donna was a kind, gentle and giving soul that always put others above herself. She would take the blame, pressure, embarrassment or burden off of others and put it on herself. Donna's positive energy was inspiring and infectious. She loved to laugh, but her happiness was always secondary to the happiness of others. What the outside world saw as sacrifice, she considered duty. One of her most admirable character traits was her humility, and because of that humble nature, she had no idea that her possession of all her other qualities - integrity, loyalty, morality, generosity, compassion, authenticity, kindness, reliability, consistency, loving, caring, forgiving, tolerance, nurturing, self-discipline, optimism, perseverance and courage - put her in rare and glorified air.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Immaculate Wiegand Robinson and Clement James Robinson of Brookline, Massachusetts; her brother Richard Robinson; her first husband Delbert Lee Grube of Enon, Ohio and her second husband Gerard Jacques Ramon Lignon of Montpellier, France.
Donna is survived by sons Steven Douglas Lignon, Kenneth Wayne Lignon (Eric Van DuBose) and Jeffrey Dale Lignon; her grandchildren Steven Lignon, Levi Lignon and Dayton Lee Lignon; her sister Christine Ann Robinson; and her nephews Scott Daniel Syrene (Dawn Syrene) and Jay Patrick Syrene (Patricia Syrene).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that in her honor, you wash your hands, wear a mask and vote.

Donna was my dearest friend for over 30 yrs. She was the kindest, most generous and compassionate person I have known. We worked together, cruised together and we could spend hours talking on the phone. I valued her judgment, accepted her advice and loved her sense of humor with her infectious laugh. I am deeply saddened over the loss of Donna, our special memories will always make me smile. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steve, Kenny, Van, Jeff, her grandchildren and her family.
I will cherish our special friendship forever.
We love you Donna and we will miss you so much.
Dorrie, Bob and family.

Donna and I shared 60 wonderful years together. We went through many different life lessons and always maintained a close and special friendship, even though there were many miles between us. I will always miss my BFF. Fay
