Doris Faye "Pete" Daniel Burns

Doris Faye Daniel Burns “Pete”, age 90, of Montgomery, AL., passed away on Thursday, August, 20, 2015. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home. The funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel at 1:00pm, with burial following in Greenwood Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy Daniel. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James O. Burns; her parents, Charles Cecil Daniel, Sr. and Alice S. Daniel; and her brothers, Charles Daniel, Jr., and Tom Daniel. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda B. Metcalf; granddaughter, Christy Metcalf Savage; three great- grandchildren, Kyle Skelton, Blakely Savage, Turner Savage; one great- great-grandson, Jackson Ace Skelton. She was retired from the Examiners of Public Accounts, State of Alabama after 25+ years of service. Mrs. Burns was a very active member of McGehee Road Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL, until her illness. Even though she could not attend, she still kept each member in her prayers and never forgot any of them. She had a tremendous faith and she walked with it every day of her precious life. She had a very special love for family and friends. A friend to everyone, she was always there. She cared about the little things in life. Her smile could melt candy. She gave meaningful hugs that could see you through anything. Mama, I will miss you so very much. You were my very best friend throughout life. Remember, this was your journey, Mama. We were the pieces of the puzzle that would fit in place for you. May we all have done you proud.
