Married 74 years, Doris faithfully served alongside her husband, Dr. Alva G. Parks, in full-time ministry. Together, they dedicated their lives to serving others, sharing their faith, and impacting countless lives through their commitment to Jesus Christ.
A graduate of Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky, Doris was a devoted educator who taught elementary school students in Indiana, Florida, Alabama, and Texas. She was passionate about teaching and nurturing young minds, and her influence extended far beyond the classroom. Her kindness, patience, and dedication left a lasting impression on the many students whose lives she touched throughout her career.
Doris was a loving mother to Tom Parks and his wife, Jeana, and Kathy Parks Whitworth. She was a cherished grandmother to Christopher Jacobs and his wife, Ashley; Brian Parks and his wife, Kate; and Scott Parks and his wife, Taylor.
She was blessed with four beloved great-grandchildren: Paris Mayuric, James Parks, Hadley Claire Parks, and Hayden Marie Parks, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Doris will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, her love for family, and her lifelong dedication to both ministry and education. Her gentle spirit, wisdom, and steadfast commitment to others created a legacy that will continue through the generations who knew and loved her.
Her family rejoices in the assurance of her faith and celebrates a life richly lived in service to God, her family, and the many people whose lives she touched over the course of nearly a century.
In her final days, Doris told everyone who came into her room that all she wanted was for her Savior to meet her at Heaven’s door and say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her heartfelt prayer has been answered and that she is now in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life.
