
Dorothy Eloise Jones, 89, a resident of Montgomery and Wetumpka, AL, died on July 1, 2012 after an extended illness . She moved from Wetumpka to the Capitol City after marrying Larkin C. Jones in 1969. The couple was married for 39 years before he passed away in 1998. Soon after Larkin's death, Mrs. Jones moved to Eastdale Estates where she enjoyed her many friends, beautiful surroundings, and the numerous creative activities provided. As her health declined, her medical needs necessitated she move to Crowne Rehab and Nursing Facility where she lived until her death. Mrs, Jones retired after 32 years of working in the accounting department of The Montgomery Fair/Gayfers Dept. Store. She loved her job, especially the early years in downtown Montgomery. Mrs Jones was a lady of style, dignity, and class. A homemaker in every sense of the word, she was amazingly talented in decorating, sewing, crafts, gardening, and cooking to perfection. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, William L. Jones and Queenie B. Jones; her husband, Larkin C. Jones; her siblings, Jack Jones, Lynn Hancock, Leila Bass, Versie Mooney, Floyd Jones, and Samuel Jones. She is survived by her only child, her faithful, treasured daughter, Carolyn Leigh Jordan, New York City. Carolyn was the light of her life. Mrs. Jones leaves one devoted sister, Euvene Ryals, Montgomery; one loving sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jones, Montgomery; many neices and nephews. Visitation will be at noon, Thursday, June 5, 2012 in the Rose Parlor at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity or the First Presbyterian Church in Montgomery. The family sends special thanks to all who brought love, care, and prayers to Mrs. Jones throughout her life.
