Dorothy J. Kirkland, 83, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating. Mrs. Kirkland was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick G. Kirkland, Jr. and her granddaughter, Margaret Ann McLendon. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy A. Kirkland of Montgomery; two granddaughters, Dottie McLendon and Laney McLendon; two great-grandsons, Parker Burkhalter and Aiden Young; and numerous other family and friends. The family would like to give a special recognition to caregivers Gloria and Shaun Sankey for the loving care they gave to Mrs. Kirkland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Caring Center at First Baptist Church of Montgomery, 305 S. Perry St., Montgomery, AL 36104 in memory of Dorothy J. Kirkland.
