Pete was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 11, 1935 to Erhardt and Tillie (Sahloff) Pedersen. He was later joined by his younger brother, Donald, and at age 6, the family moved to Shawano, WI where his father wanted to farm; and where he had many fond memories. He graduated from Shawano High School in 1953. Pete was active in student council and was a tackle on the football team.
He was a proud veteran; having served in the United States Air Force, doing tours of duty at Gunter AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Maxwell AFB. It was during his tours in Alabama, where he met his beautiful wife, Jane Slaughter. They were married 58 years until her passing in 2017.
After the Air Force, he worked at St. Margarets and Jackson Hospitals, while earning his degree from Troy University. He later was Director of Nuclear Medicine at Maxwell AFB, while also attending classes at Auburn University in Montgomery, where he received his Masters Degree in Business Administration.
While working at Maxwell, he met Radiologist, Dr. David Montiel, who later became one of the founding doctors of Montgomery Radiology Associates; and hired Pete as CEO, where he served for over 20 years upon his retirement.
Pete was a man of many interests; a Master Mason and 32 Degree Shriner, a bowler and golfer. He enjoyed working in his yard and proudly won “Yard of the Month” in his community of Wynlakes. He was an avid Alabama fan, and went to many games home and away. He and Jane enjoyed traveling, having gone on many interesting excursions with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, and brother, and his best buddy Micki, the Pomeranian, whom he lost just recently.
Survivors include: Sister-in-law Jacqueline Pedersen of Shawano, WI, Niece, Tammy (Clint) Quillin Montgomery, Nephews: Michael (Judy) Pedersen Green Bay, WI, and Patrick (Amy) Pedersen Hortonville, WI, and several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special cousins; Marlene and Barron Jackson, Louise Cox, and Ann Richardson, as well as many devoted friends.
Donations to Pete’s memory may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
