Maj. Earl A. Blevins
November 26, 1915 – April 1, 2014
Major Earl A. Blevins, USAF, Retired, 98, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 2:00pm at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 1:00pm – 2:00pm at White Chapel Greenwood Funeral Home on Tuesday prior to the service. Major Blevins served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for over 20 years. His service took him to Panama, the Philippines, and the Pacific Theater during World War II. After retiring from the Air Force, Maj. Blevins began working as an officer with the Montgomery Police Department. He was also Worshipful Master with Blue Lodge #11. Maj. Blevins was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Blevins; and son, James “Jimmy” Blevins. He is survived by his loving daughter, Janet Varner (Fred); grandson, Shaun Rooker; granddaughter, Shannon Blackmore; grandsons, Mark Varner (Shannon) and David Kennedy (Erica); granddaughter, Melva Carroll (Jim); numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
