Earl Ray Childs of Deatsville, AL passed away peacefully at his home on July 25, 2022, at the age of 83, after an extended illness.
Earl loved the Lord, his family and was a hard-working entrepreneur. He founded and owned Montgomery Armored Car Service, Inc. (MACS) since 1979. He enjoyed life, helping others, and telling everyone about Jesus. Some of his favorite activities included family get togethers, Lake Martin living, Alabama football and fixing almost anything!
Earl is survived by his wife, Martha McDaniel Childs of 60 years; children, Brad (Dawn) Childs, Amy (Buddy) Connell; grandchildren, Josie (Brian) Michie, Kaley (Jason) Karrafa, Daniel (Tessa) Childs, Spencer Forbes, Lauren Childs, Josie Connell, Anna Connell; great grandchildren Mary Allison Michie, Benjamin Michie, Elliot Childs; brother, Robert (Patricia) Hinton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kinard Childs and Pauline Hinton; son, Brian Childs; and brothers, Kriss Hinton and Wade Hinton.
Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Saturday, July 30th, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation an hour prior to the funeral. Procession to graveside services in Greenwood Cemetery immediately following. Pallbearers will be David Gibson, Jack Byars, Robert Hinton, Buddy Deaton, Paul Holland and Leslie Wingler. Honorary Pallbearers include all the MACS employees.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his loyal and faithful caregivers, Ashley Mann, N.P., Lori Roberson, R.N., and the physicians and staff at the Montgomery Cancer Center.
