

Mrs. Edna Frances Bell Spence, a resident of Eclectic, Alabama died March 13, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 44 years, Lt.Col. (USAF Ret) Claude P. Spence. She is survived by one daughter, Claudia J. Jack of Columbia, Tn and one son, Lt.Col (USAF Ret) David R. and wife Juli Spence of Montgomery, Al. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She attended Richmond Academy Junior College in Augusta, Ga and graduated from Georgia Business School of Commerce in Macon, Ga. She was an active servant in the community. She was a founding member of the Elmore County Art Guild and held an officer's role until the most recent years. She was a volunteer at the Eclectic Elementary School for more than 20 years and was nominated for state volunteer of the year. Born in Macon, Ga in 1921, she was to many a model of selfless community service because of her numerous activities on behalf of others. She and her husband Claude married in 1940, and together were the proud parents of Claudia and David. They also loved their son in law Billy C. Jack of Columbia, Tn and their daughter in law Julianne K. Spence of Montgomery, Al. Frances is survived by her grandchildren Robert Jack, Laura Jack, Edward Jack, Ashley Vogt, and Douglas Spence and their husbands and wives, as well as seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on March 16 at the Leak-Memorial Chapel in Montgomery, and a graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. (EST) on March 17 at Macon Memorial Cemetery in Macon, GA.
