Edward Martin Hughes Jr.

Edward Martin Hughes, Jr., (Marty) a resident of Wetumpka, Alabama, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on July 15, 1954, in Alabama, Marty attended, and was a graduate, of Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama. He was an avid sportsman, hunting most especially turkey and deer, as well as a fisherman. In his younger days, he was quite an athlete. He was also a respected businessman in his community. Marty will be sorely missed and will live on in our hearts forever.

Marty is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jo, who never left his side during his illness; son, Edward Martin Hughes, III (Kim); grandsons, Ethan Hughes, Evan Hughes, and Eli Hughes; father, Edward Martin Hughes, Sr.; sisters, Lynn Ratley (Marvin), Marianne Finlayson; two nieces and one nephew; several great nieces and great nephews; his faithful Boston Terrier, Roscoe. He was predeceased by his mother, Juanita W. Hughes.

Pallbearers are Will Finlayson, Will Steward, Bill Mills, Ethan Hughes, Evan Hughes, and Cade Free.

A visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, located at 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL, 36109, on February 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life service will commence at 11:00 am in the Chapel.
