He was born February 3rd, 1948 in Montgomery to Wilbur Lowery and Ruth Tucker James, both of whom predeceased him. He was married to Florence Mattox James, who also predeceased Edward. He has several niece and nephews, particular loving caregivers, Lizzie and Jeffrey Mattox.
Edward is survived by his sister, Dianne James Davis and her husband, Bill Blount, and his brother, Derrill W. James and his husband, Lazaro Saavedra.
Edward attended Lanier High School and graduated in the class of 1966. He attended Auburn University, graduated from Troy University and was a member of the Alabama National Guard. He was employed by the State of Alabama as a computer specialist.
Edward was happy person and took delight in asking names and hometowns. He almost always could make a connection. The James are a rather large clan populating the state of Alabama and the cousins make up a rather large and formidable breed. He just never met a stranger.
Edward loved his cats. He had enough.
He will be greatly missed by his family, and friends to whom he was devoted and loyal. To caregivers, Marie and Walter Bell, many thanks and much love.
Funeral visitation will be at Leak Memory Chapel at 12:30 and a small graveside will follow at 2:00 pm in Greenwood Cemetery.
The family would appreciate any contributions to the Montgomery Humane Society to honor his memory.
