Edwin B. Bookwalter, Major USAF Retired, 87, a resident of Montgomery, went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2020. He was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He graduated from Grove City College, PA, with a degree in commerce and earned his MBA from The George Washington University, Washington, DC in 1966.
Major Bookwalter was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service and outstanding achievement while serving at the Pentagon in 1970. He retired in 1975 to pursue a civilian career.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Cecilia Bookwalter, a brother Leonard, and son Paul. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth, son John, daughter Anne Bookwalter Walsh (Thomas), granddaughter Katerina Friese, and two sisters, Lea Ann Bookwalter and Susan Rowles (Perry).
Services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, Montgomery, AL on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm preceded by visitation at 1:00 pm. All COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed. Facebook livestream will be available through Leak Memory Chapel Facebook page.
Major Bookwalter will be buried at an Alabama Military Cemetery, with full military honors, at a later date.
