Elizabeth Ann Bell
August 6, 1920 – May 13, 2018
Elizabeth “Betty” Bell, a longtime resident of Montgomery, Alabama died on May 13, 2018 at 97 years old. She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on August 6, 1920. As a child in the great depression, she began working in her family’s boarding house and restaurant the Chubb House, which is now part of historic downtown Ann Arbor. She is preceded by her husband Maurice “Red” Bell, her sister Edith Bowser, her brother Ralph Chubb, and her son Ralph Kimbrell.
She is survived by her sons Mark and Scott Bell and Roy Kimbrell, and by her 10 grandchildren Shelly Herek, Jonathan, Brian, Chris, and Jessica Kimbrell, and Timothy, Jeremiah, Jasmine, Ariana, and Madeleine Bell, and by her six great grandchildren Olivia, Xavier, and Henry Herek, and Carter, Dawson, and Edina Kimbrell.
She had a life-long passion for traveling and learning languages. She visited countries throughout Latin America and Europe and at times remained to study and live with families, immersing herself in the local culture. She was also very passionate about the game of bridge, reaching the level of Ruby Life Master.
She was a longtime member of the Agudath Israel Synagogue. Graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday May 15, 2018 at Greenwood Cemetery, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.
Pallbearers are Michael Wolin, Roy Kimbrell, Mark Bell, Scott Bell, Timothy Bell and Jeremiah Bell.
Honorary Pallbearers are Tommy Payne, Mannie Corman and Clay Teague.
