To Vergie Browder and family, and McGinnis family:
My husband Kenneth Collier and I are so sorry to hear about the passing of Tina Browder McGinnis and Sonny McInnis, friends for many years. Rest in peace. Praying for peace to the families.

Our family grew up on the same street as Sonny and Tina and where their son, affectionately known as John John was born. All of the children on Marco Road helped with their son because he was several years younger than most of us at the time. What a sweet family they were. Eventually they moved away but were never forgotten. My mother visited with Tina many years ago and it was so nice to hear that she was still doing well. I am deeply saddened to hear that both of these beautiful souls have passed. May they rest in peace together.

Sonny and Tina mentored me as a young man. I always remember Tina saying she wanted tickets when I had my debut at Carnegie Hall. She had lots of optimism about what God would do with me. And her faith was borne out when God placed me at one of our Southern Baptist Seminaries as a professor of Church Music.

Tina and Sonny were a blessing to me and such an encouragement. I find that they , in retrospect, are what God speaks of in His word by referencing those who are encouragers. They loved the Lord and loved His people and were not bashful about showing it.

Now they share in the rich reward given to faithful saints who have gone on to be with the Lord in heaven. I hope they celebrate there with my mom and dad. They are tremendous examples of what God can do and how He can use people in powerful ways.

Their example helped me shape the lives of future music ministers, and I am eternally grateful for what they taught me.

Mr, Sonny and Miss Tina - We miss you so much.  We loved our early visits and staying with you  this past summer.  We loved those extra treats, and having a seat next to each each day was always happy for us. We shared our hobbies with Mr. Sonny and Miss Tina....Hobbies such as barking at squirrels, barking at john, and sometimes barking at nothing at all.  We loved those special rewards of frozen ice cubes on those high heat index days.  It was always nice to hear Miss Tina and Mr. Sonny say so many nice things to us.  We will never forget our adventure in their home....and we will never forget them....We don't really understand someone passing....BUT we do understand missing our best friends.  Love always Zelda and Ritzy

Sonny and Tina were such special people. Even though we knew them such a short time Tina and Sonny treated us like family. Helping them with their DVD player often turned into a long stay which including some great grilled cheese sandwiches. They loved visits by the dogs Ritzy and Zelda who usually came along with us. We feel so fortunate to have known Sonny and Tina. We are terribly sorry to hear of their passing.

Sonny was a man with a thousand stories. Listening to his life growing up on a dairy farm and driving the local school bus could keep someone entertained for hours. Both he and Tina were such giants in The Faith and a REAL joy to be around. They were the most kind and understanding people that I ever knew. Every day they spoke of their love for their son John, his wife Tiffany, and grandchildren Hadley and Chapman. They were always happy to share the grandchildren's latest photos and stories. I miss them so much! Love you Tina! Love you Sonny!

I have not seen Tina in years but have ofren thought about her and Sonny. It was so sad to hear that they passed away within days apart. As a child Tina was my favorite cousin and I always thought Sonny a fine man.
Sending prayers for the family.

So sorry. Loved them. Please know my prayers are with you all. God bless you!!!

In 1980, I had just moved to Maxwell AFB and decided to visit Southside Baptist Church one Sunday. After the service, Ms Tina chased me down in the parking lot to make sure I felt welcome and took me to lunch. I stayed at that church the entire 4 yrs I was there. I still have dear friends I consider as second family from there. I’ll always be grateful for her kindness and Christian love.

When the Senior Life Team meeting at Heritage Baptist Church asked me to take Sonny & Tina McInnis as my at home contact, I agreed even though I did not know them. That was over five years ago. I was nervous on my first phone call to ask if I could come visit. After one visit I loved this couple. I looked forward to visiting them. I found out they knew my mother in the past. We had some funny and good conversations about her. Tina and I talked on the phone a lot. I delivered books, magazines, devotions to them monthly. They loved the chocolate malted balls the best of different sweets I always added to the sack of books. I loved it when Tina called me. When I visited, Sonny would add to our conversation. They both had the best hearts that could be had. I had to be careful not to poor mouth because they would want to help. I miss watching the birds and squirrels with them from their beautiful large window. Yes. I miss them, but they are now together in Heaven (carrying on with my mother). John sure did his very best to take care of them. In fact, he spoiled Tina; she said so too. Oh, how I am missing them, but I cannot be selfish. They are no longer in pain in our Lord's presences . I thank our dear Lord that they were my friends.

What special people Mrs. Tina and Mr. Sonny were! I have such wonderful memories growing up and being at their house. They always had a smile, would do anything to help another person, and were so much fun to be around. What great comfort knowing they are in the arms of Jesus now! John and Tiffany, we are praying for you and all your family during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to you during this time. This is a deep sorrow.

John, Glenn and I loved your Mom & Dad so much. We laughed & cried together so many times over the years. I think the greatest joy of their lives was when you were born. Hold onto & cherish those precious memories & past them on to your little ones.

Our prayers and condolences are with you John, Tiffany, Hadley and Chapman. They are with their Heavenly Father now.
 Life Must Go On
Grieve for me, for I would grieve for you,
Then brush away the sorrow and the tears,
Life is not over, but begins a new,
With courage you must greet the coming years.
To live forever in the past is wrong,
Can only cause you misery and pain,
Dwell not on memories overlong,
With others you must share and care again.
Reach out and comfort those who comfort you,
Recall the years but only for a while,
Nurse not your loneliness but live again,
Forget not--remember with a smile.
Our family memories are many but family Christmas's for 21 years we shared all together.
We love you,--Pa and Nana

It's difficult to find the words to say how sorry I am, and am very sad how much Tina will be missed by myself and by everyone who knew her.  I remember the first time that I met Tina and her husband Sonny.  It was an instant deep friendship.  She spoke lovingly concerning the time she taught Sunday School and how much she loved each of her students. Tina was like the older sister that I never had.   I couldn't wait to return to hear more stories about her and Sonny's years growing up and attending Auburn.  My heart goes out to her family and friends.  Tina was a woman of great faith.who shared God's love - War Eagle Tina!
