Mrs. Elsie M. Hassey

Elsie Mae Hassey, 70, of Montgomery passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband John Durham Hassey, her granddaughter Heather Thomas, 3 brother and 4 sisters. She is survived by her children: Sidney Smith, Leslie Smith (Krista), Sonya Johnson (Bo), Carla Dawson, Stacey Dickens (Michael), John D. Hassey, Jr. (Tammie); brothers: James Champion, Tommy Champion (Jeanette); 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Leak Memory Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 pm on Friday at Leak Memory Chapel with Pastor Ron Davis officiating. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers are Buddy Guthrie, Race Guthrie, Ralph Champion, Larry Thompson, Andrew Murphy and Jimmy “Bunk” Johnson. The family extends a special thanks to the caring staff of Hospice Advantage and a special thanks to her niece Sandra Land for their loving care and attention.
