Eva O'Bera Brown

Eva O’Bera Brown was born June 3, 1925 and left this earth on December 13, 2025 – she celebrated her 100th birthday at the Montgomery Country Club this past June. She was born Eva Loften in Ocala, Florida – her father Alfred was from Andalusia, Alabama and her mother Leona Hester was from Russellville. O’Bera was from a large family - five sisters and three brothers. She was the last living sibling. O’Bera met returning WW II soldier Frank R. Brown, Jr, in 1944 when he jumped on the running board of her friend’s passing car – they were the first couple to be married in the state of Florida on January 1, 1945. They were married for 50 years when her husband Frank passed away in 1995. Frank remained in the Air Force after WW II and as they traveled the country from base to base their family grew – five children – Sandra, Alfred (Fred), Barry, Virgina (Ginger) and Deborah (Debbie). They finally settled in Montgomery in 1967 where O’Bera worked in the cosmetics counter of Montgomery Fair that became Gayfers that became Dillards. Her children married and gave her grandchildren. Sandra married David Carr, Fred married Mary and they have three sons – Jason, Ethan and Barry Michael. Her other son Barry married Marty Spanninger and they had Nicholas (Nick). Barry later divorced and married Verane Pick who became Brown. Her daughter Ginger married Julius (Butch) Fuller and they had Bram, Heather and twin sons, Morgan and Brendan. Her youngest child, Debbie, married and had a son Omar Zubair. All of these grandchildren are grown and have their own children – Jason is married to Monica and has two sons, Hunter and Sasha. Ethan is married to Bobby Sue McCollum and also has two sons, Huckleberry and Thor. Fred’s third son, Barry Michael is married to Zelda English, and, by coincidence, they also have two sons, Ever and Solace. Fred lives near Portland, Oregon - all of his sons and grandsons live nearby. In Alabama, Bram married Melissa and they have two daughters, Addison and Avery. Addison recently married Blayze Franklin and they are expecting O’Bera’s first great great-grandchild. Heather married Farzam Khassian and they have three children, twin daughters Phoebe and Corinne and a son Colby. Morgan married Nicole and they have a son, Cooper and a daughter, Allie. His twin brother, Brendan has three children - Jackson, Collins and Brooks. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as an aunt to many nephews and nieces, O’bera will be deeply missed by her far extended family, by the people who loved her.
