Evelyn attended Montgomery schools and at the age of 19 married the love of her life, Barton H. Perry. World War II interrupted Bart and Evelyn’s education as they attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API), the precursor to Auburn University. Bart served in the Army Air Corp. in a Stateside capacity. After the service Bart joined the Montgomery Advertiser as a newspaper photographer. After working as a photographer for both Auburn University and Emory University (in Atlanta) Bart and Evelyn moved to Omaha, Nebraska as Bart accepted a position with Eastman Kodak Company. In 1969 The Perry’s moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bart retired from Kodak in 1983 (from Detroit, Michigan). With retirement Bart and Evelyn moved back to their home, and lived in Cloverdale before moving to County Downs.
Mrs. Perry was predeceased by her parents; husband of 62 years Barton H. Perry, brother, C.E. Singley, Col. USAF (Ret.), her sister-in-law Juanita Shelton “Nita” Singley, and her nephew Clifford Shelton Singley. She is survived by daughter, Lynn Perry Olson of Montgomery and her son Phil Barton Perry (Peggy) of Montgomery, nephew John Charles "Chuck" Singley (Pam) of Montgomery, nephew David Nelson Singley (Hanna) of Woodbridge, VA; grandchildren Christopher Randall Olson of Montevallo, Stephanie Perry Taunton (Jeremy) of Opelika and Amber Lynn Perry of Auburn and great-grandchild Asher Greyson Taunton (Opelika). Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, wife and homemaker. She enjoyed visiting Lake Martin and the beach, but spending time with her grandchildren was what she loved most. She was a longtime member of Cloverdale Baptist Church.
