Evie Mae Johnson

Evie Mae (Grannie) Branum Johnson, age 97, was born on November 20, 1927. She died on May 8, 2025, surrounded by members of her family. She was born to Oscar Buell and Audrey (Audie) Ree Cleghorn Branum. She moved to Georgiana, AL and then moved to Montgomery, AL in 1956. Evie was preceded in Death by her Husband, Warren Gaston, (Married 60 years), son Van (Janice E.), Grandson, John, and Her sister, Margaret Mathis. Grannie is survived by her remaining sons, Warren Gene (Alice ) and James Vernon (Martha), and her Daughter, Dorothy Mae Johnson (Dale) Brown. She had eleven Grandchildren. Michelle, Cory, Jennifer, Eric, Lindsey, Christopher, T.J., Crystal, Jessica, and Tyler. She was Grannie to 21 Great-Grands and one Great- Great- Grandchild.

Evie worked as a Bookkeeper at W.T. Smith Lumber Co., house wife, School Secretary, Church Secretary and a helper to her Husband in all of his many endeavors. She was a gifted Quilt Maker and a short Term Missionary on many Mission trips with her church. She was a faithful Member at Goode Street Baptist, Catoma Baptist, and First Baptist (All in Montgomery). Friends Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday May 17, 2025. Graveside service follows Visitation at Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
