Ms. Howell lived a faithful and purposeful life. She had a true gift of service and put it to work in her church and community. She was an active member of the Pike Road Civic Club since 1955 where she served as president several times. She participated in the first ever Pike Road Flea Market and later served as chair for this event multiple times. Ms. Howell was a wonderful leader, she served as summer director of Pike Road Community Club for 13 summers, she was the Director of the Creative Living Center of the Alabama National Fair for 33 years, and she was lunchroom manager for Saint James School from 1983-1991. Ms. Howell never veered from her faith; she attended many churches and made an impact at each one. She especially enjoyed preparing Wednesday night meals at Evangel temple for several years where she was an active member from 1975- 2005. She has attended Vaughn Forest Church for the past six years. Many of us know about the many talents Ms. Howell had in the kitchen, but she also possessed many creative talents. Ms. Howell did not let those talents go to waste. She began a quilting group in 2019 at the Pike Road Art Center and has shared her talents with many since then. Although she lived an accomplished life her greatest love, besides the Lord, was her family whom she diligently served all her life through providing, caring and supporting to the greatest extents one can give.
