Our mother was a loving and devoted wife to our father. Together they enjoyed bowling in their younger years, playing bridge with dear friends, dining out with friends, horseback riding and hosting annual country cookouts.
Mom often talked about her days of growing up in Greenwood South Carolina and how much she enjoyed going to church and Sunday school.
After graduation, she moved to Montgomery, Al where her sister lived. Mom became an airline stewardess. Mom always enjoyed learning. You would often see her reading books on various subjects and researching topics. She was curious about many things. She loved nature and appreciated the tiniest details of flowers while always crediting God for His creation.
Her love of learning led her to become a real estate broker and owning a real estate company. Later she set her mind on becoming a nurse. With a lot determination and dedication to her studies, she became a registered nurse at the age of 58.
To us, our mom was our encourager and our cheerleader. She was a wonderful example of how to make others feel welcome and she seemed to always see the best in people.
Mom dearly loved her friends and often remarked how blessed she was to have had such wonderful friends. More recently she enjoyed going to church at Ray Thorington Baptist when she felt well enough to attend. She was welcomed into the ladies group for luncheons and bingo and she would tell us how much fun that was.
We will surely miss our dear mother and her many words of wisdom, but we know she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is healed and rejoicing with all her heavenly family.
Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am at Leak Memory Chapel for procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a graveside service on 10/23/2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you do a kind deed for someone.
