Franklin Eugene Jennings

JENNINGS, Franklin Eugene “Gene”, 81, a Montgomery resident, died Sunday, December 14, 2014. Preceded in death by his father, Phillip David Jennings; mother, Mamie Evelyn Thomas Jennings; sisters, Evelyn “Sit” Smith, Margaret Johnson and Annie Laurie “Pie” Moore; and brothers, Thomas, Jack, and Phillip, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, “Babs” Jennings; daughter, Gena Phillips (Jimmy), sons Mark Jennings (Debbie) and Chris Jennings (Shirley); sisters, Hortense Williams and Betty Moses; brother Burr Wise Jennings; eight grandchildren, Kylie McBrayer (Dee), Katie Phillips, Jamie Leigh Phillips, Rachel Jennings, Preston Jennings, Amanda Baggett, Justin Jennings, Natalie Jennings; three great-grandchildren, Auburn, Brantley, and Daxton. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather and friend, he will be greatly missed. He enjoyed cattle farming, family reunions, cookouts, homemade ice cream, and being part of his Sunday School class. His Visitation will be Friday, December 19, 2014 at 10 AM, at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM CST, with Dr. Rick Marshall officiating. A Second Service will follow on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 12 PM EST, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church – 304 South Bond St. – Plains, GA – 31780, with Dr. Leonard Dupree officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Smithville, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Condolences may be offered at www.leak-mc.com.
