Fred Michael Kirkland

Mike spent 26 years working for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department. Mike loved his family, friends, and beloved pets. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time in the country, and tending to flowers in his yard. He was an avid and descriptive storyteller, and loved to entertain others with his tales.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Kirkland, Jr., his mother, Annie Glenn Sanders Kirkland, and his brother, David Sanford Kirkland. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joan Perdue Kirkland; his nieces, Alison Gwyn Harris (Heath) and Ann Elise Taylor (Jeremy); and his great niece, Adalyn Ruth Harris, and his great nephew, Micah Sellers Taylor. He is also survived by many cousins. Mike will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery for Mr. Kirkland on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior at Leak Memory Chapel.
