Wallace was born on August 9, 1961, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Montgomery to Oscar and Ruby Harper.
Wallace retired from the ALDOT highway department. He loved attending concerts, traveling anywhere he could, camping, and was always ready for a new adventure. A true lifelong music lover, some of his favorites included Elvis Presley, Little Big Town, Hank Williams Jr., and KISS.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. He especially loved helping local bands with set-up and lighting and enjoyed being part of the music scene. Wallace always knew which local artists were playing and their schedules. Many of the local artists he supported were also dear friends. He enjoyed staying connected to the music community and rarely missed an opportunity to support local performances.
Most recently, Wallace proudly graduated from the Montgomery Police Department Citizens Academy, an experience he cherished deeply. He enjoyed it so much that he planned to take the class again and had signed up to volunteer with the department. Wallace also looked forward to attending monthly breakfast gatherings with members of the police department and greatly valued the friendships he formed there.
Wallace was known for shopping for vehicles often, cheering on Auburn University athletics, keeping up with the news, and never meeting a stranger. He also enjoyed watching The Andy Griffith Show. He loved talking on the phone with a steady circle of friends and family he checked on daily. Wallace had a big heart — sometimes to a fault — and was a determined man whose strong will and persistence carried him through life, never allowing obstacles to slow him down. He will be remembered for his generosity, adventurous spirit, and friendly personality.
He is survived by his siblings, Tuwanna (Bill) Hinds of Montgomery; Jamie (Gena) Harper of Wetumpka; and Shara (Mike) McNamee of Chelsea. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews: Kate McGee of Birmingham, AL; Harper McGee of Seagrove, FL; Mac McNamee of Huntsville, AL; Bennett McNamee and Reeves McNamee of Chelsea, AL; Alivia Harper of Wetumpka, AL; and Hudson Rupert of Orlando, FL; along with family and many dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Pallbearers will be Harper McGee, Mac McNamee, Bennett McNamee, Reeves McNamee, Bill Hinds, and Mike McNamee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Montgomery Humane Society and Eastmont Baptist Church.
