Gaby Salama Capp, age 98, of Montgomery, Alabama died on Sunday, November 13, 2022 surrounded by her children in Montgomery, Alabama. Born on November 10, 1924 as a French citizen to Joseph and Elise Salama in Alexandria, Eygpt, the youngest of seven children. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Albert Capp, whom she shared 43 years with until his death in 2008. The last of seven children, she was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Renee Charbit, Fortunee de Botton, Iris Cicurel, Aline Benzaken, Marguerite Moussatchi, and Ibram Salama as well as their spouses.
She is survived by her children; Esther Miller, Morris Capp (Leslie), and Deborah Capp; her grandchildren, Rachel Lipchitz, Eli Miller, Daniel Capp, Storm McWhorter, David Halperin and Michael Halperin; her great grandchildren, Hanan Miller and Dean Lipchitz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gaby was blessed with a full life filled with a large, loving family here and abroad. In her youth she excelled in many sports including swimming, tennis and ping pong. She was fiercely competitive and loved playing backgammon and solitaire. She enjoyed traveling the world with her family and cherished those times dearly.
Her many passions included gardening with her husband, loving her dogs and supporting the Humane Shelter. She was active in Hadassah and Temple Etz Ahayem serving as sisterhood president. She enjoyed the arts and supported Montgomery Musuem of Fine Arts.
One of Gaby's proudest days was becoming an American Citizen in 1972. She loved her birth culture. Gaby was so appreciative of Mama Hanan welcoming and accepting her into the family.
The family is forever grateful to the kind staff at Answered Prayer and Kindred Hospice. Special thanks to Millie Zachery, Mrs. Robinson, and Melissa Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Eli Miller, Daniel Capp, David Halperin, Michael Halperin, Elliot Cohen, and Morris Capuano.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Agudath Israel-Etz Ahyem, Temple Beth Or or the Humane Shelter of your choice.
A visitation for Gaby will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Service will conclude with a graveside in Greenwood Cemetery.
