

Dillard, Gail Boyd 77, died peacefully at home on May 10,2025 after a short battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents Connie and Earnest Boyd, and her husband of 49 years Jimmy Dillard.
She is survived by a sister, Jan Neal, a son and daughter in law, Jeff and Mary Jane Dillard; 3 grandchildren, Joseph, Claudia, and Robert. She was born in Jacksonville FL and moved to Montgomery when she was 6 years old and lived here until 2019 when she moved to Auburn to be closer to her sister and friends. She worked for the state of Alabama for 37 years at the Medicaid Agency and the Dept of Public Health. In addition to working full time at the State, Jimmy and Gail started, owned, and operated Pike Road Kennel, a dog boarding facility for 25 years. While operating the kennel, Jimmy and Gail also field trained dogs. She very much loved dogs and upon death had a rescue dog, Casey.
She was a longtime member of Capital Heights Baptist Church. After moving to Auburn in 2019, she attended First Presbyterian, liked the people, and placed membership in Dec 2019 and joined Circle #2, of the Presbyterian Women.
The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Glenwood (https://glenwood.org/), a center that provides premier autism and behavioral health services in Alabama, where Gail’s granddaughter, Claudia, resides.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Leak Memory Funeral Home in Montgomery on Thursday, May 15. Visitation will be at 10:00 and a Memorial Service at 11:00.
