George A. Hill, age 80, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. He was the youngest child born to Charles R. Hill Sr., and Addie B. Hill, in Brazil, lN. His parents and siblings all proceeded him in death, as well as his oldest daughter Sherry B. Norell. His siblings were Barbara J. Deem, Jessie A. Hill, Patsy R. Dominguez, and Charles R. Hill Jr. he is survived by his wife Patricia (Tricia) M. Hill, daughters Kim Hudson (David), Crystal Hill; grandson Tyler J. Jennings, granddaughters Rachel Hutto (Colby), and Reagan Jennings; great grandchildren Allie Jennings, Rylan Ann Jennings, Mary Hollan Hutto, Brooks Hutto; Stepchildren, Leslie Sisson (Gene), Keith Tatum (Dana), Kit Tatum (Melissa), and Step-grandchildren, Jake Sisson (Kelci), Kaitlyn Tatum, Luke Sisson, Alissa Kirk, and Kiley Tatum; great step-grandchildren, Lawson Sisson and Harper Sisson.
George graduated from Brazil High School in May 1961, and moved to St. Petersburg, Fl. And worked for one year prior to going into the U.S. Air Force in 1962. He was a law enforcement officer during his service and worked at the Community College of the Air Force his last four years from which he retired from in 1982.
He was the recipient of various awards while in the military, including Air University Military Citizen of the Year in 1976, and Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 1976 from Exchange Club at Maxwell Air Force Base.
While in the military George received a B.S. Degree and a M.S in Criminal Justice Administration from Troy State University in Montgomery and worked on an M.Ed. degree. Upon retirement from the Air Force, George worked as a civilian education contractor for the Education Office at Maxwell for two years. After this he went to work at Auburn University in Montgomery (AUM) as the Asst. Registrar and retired from there in Jan. 2005 as the Senior Director of Enrollment Services/University Registrar. While working at AUM, George was a member of many regional and national organizations such as the American Assoc. of Collegiate Registrars/Admissions Officers, the Southern Assoc. Of Collegiate Registrars/Admissions Officers, and the Al. Assoc. of Collegiate Registrars/Admissions Officers of which he served on many committees and was elected and served as President in 1993.
George and Tricia have attended Frazer Free Methodist church since 2003 and he was privileged to be a member of the Living Today Sunday School Class. At Frazer He was an usher, greeter, and Sunday School teacher. George accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior that same year he joined Frazer and loved God, his family, extended family, and others with whom he had contact.
George’s celebration of life service will be held at Frazer Free Methodist Church, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL on Friday, December 15th. Visitation is at 9:00 am and the service will begin at 10:00 with graveside to follow.
His favorite bible verse was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:3. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be made to Elmore County Animal Shelter in his memory.
