

Gerald Ray Boone, 77, passed away on September 6th, 2024 with his daughters by his side. Born on July 17, 1947 to Harold Ray Boone and Lucille Hollon Boone, Gerald grew up in Montgomery, AL. He graduated from Lee High School in 1965. He was in the Air Force for 4 years and served in the Vietnam War. Gerald grew up an avid golfer spending many days playing with his father and brother at Bonnie Crest Country Club where he made many lifelong friends. He was a member of the Lee High School golf team that won the state championship in 1964. He enjoyed participating in numerous golf tournaments, some of those including various Auburn football coaches. Taking his daughters to Auburn games was a highlight of his fall for years. Gerald was a good friend to others and loved by many for his humor and stories of times gone by. Gerald was a well-known banker in the city for 50 years before his retirement in 2017. He helped start the Renasant Bank location in Montgomery. Gerald formed many great relationships with customers all over the city, always willing to go out of his way to help them. He was involved in various organizations: MARC, Montgomery Area Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels, and an Advisory Board Member of Renasant Bank. He received the Seniors of Achievement from MACOA in 2022 for his many years of service to our city.
Gerald was very devoted to his family. He was a dedicated father to his two daughters, Meredith and Jessica, always reminding them to call if they ever needed anything. One of his proudest moments was becoming a grandfather to his six grandchildren. He enjoyed telling anyone he knew about his grandchildren and their accomplishments. If you knew Gerald, you knew about his daughters and grandchildren. Family was important to Gerald as he maintained a strong relationship with his parents, twin sister Cheryl and brother, Tommy throughout his life. He is survived by his two daughters, Meredith Gay (Chad) and Jessica Gamble (Matthew), twin sister Cheryl Kiefer (Chuck) and six grandchildren: Blakely (Benjamin), Bryar, Braylen, Hollon, Ava Scott and Brooks. He is also survived by his niece, Kelly Durden (David) and nephew Joey Walker (Erin).
A visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 12th at Leak Memory from 12:30- 2:00. A Chapel service will follow at 2:00 in Leak Memory. In lieu of flowers, donations came be made to American Heart Association or Montgomery Council on Aging.
