Geraldine Porter

Geraldine Porter was born in Beat 14, AL and grew up happily in a small community outside Montgomery until her graduation from Lanier High School. She raised her family in Montgomery and lived there until 2007, when she and James moved to Hoover, AL to be close to their grown children. In recent years, she lived in Auburn, Alabama to be under the care of her daughter.

She passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, in Auburn at the age of 97. We have the assured hope that she is now in the presence of Jesus. She will be remembered by her unwavering faith, her strength of character, her southern grace, her smile and laughter, and her deep love for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Ervin Porter, Sr., her son James Ervin Porter, Jr., and her grandson James Ervin Porter III; her parents Ernest Luther and Bessie Hudgens Davis, her sister Betty Jean Davis, brothers Jesse Paul Davis and Joe Allen Davis,

She is survived by her daughter Patricia Porter (Bill) Smith and her sons Gary Allen (Rhonda) Porter and Stuart Craig (Kathy) Porter, and daughter in-law Sherry Porter; her granddaughter Margaret Ann Smith (Chris) McGregor, and grandsons William Porter (Susan) Smith, Gary Allen (Serena) Porter, Jr., John Adam (Madeline) Porter, and Stuart Craig Porter II; Great grandchildren Christopher Smith McGregor, Emma Claire McGregor, Wyatt Porter Smith, Walker Eli Smith, Elizabeth Kate Porter, and Anna Grace Porter; her sister Dorothy Davis Collins, her brother Earnest Rex (Karen) Davis, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends and Family Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, US, on July 11, 2026, beginning at 9:30 am.

A Celebration of Life Chapel Service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, US, on July 11, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am.
