

Gwen Jordan McGriff, 93, a native of Flea Hop, AL and a longtime resident of Montgomery, AL went to her heavenly home on Friday, March 3, 2017. Gwen was a volunteer at Baptist (South) Hospital for 19 years after her retirement from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 52 in Montgomery. Gwen was also employed at Retail Credit Union for many years, the State of Alabama, and Maxwell AFB. She was a charter member of McGhee Road Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Director and many other capacities. While a member at Highland Avenue Baptist Church Gwen served as a sponsor for youth choir tours, the Young at Heart group, and Sunday school teacher. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McGriff; parents, Abner and Reathie Jordan; her twin brother, Kyle Jordan, brothers, Austin Jordan, Morris Jordan, Curt Jordan, sister, Emma Lou Bishop, and granddaughter, Angie Grubb. Survivors include her daughters, Glenda McGriff Grubb (Johnny), Athens, TN, and Nancy McGriff Ray (Randy), Grady, AL, grandchildren, Terri Grubb Mayberry (Vince), Ft. Polk, LA, Joey Ray (Paula), Helena, AL, great grandchildren, Trevor, Lauren, Zach Mayberry, Jonathan, and Brayden Ray. The family wishes to thank friends, Elton McGaha, Beth Edwards, Sissy Harris, Patti Glaze, Debbie Pollard, and Nick and Patty Rainwater for their love and support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Angie Grubb Memorial Scholarship Fund C/O McMinn County High School 2215 Congress Parkway, Athens, TN 37303. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 1:00PM-2:00PM with a chapel service beginning at 2:00PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
