
After an extended illness Harold Wallace "Buddy" Brendle, 81, died peacefully at his home Sunday, January 27, 2013. Affectionately known as "Grandbuddy" by his eleven grandchildren, Buddy was born on July 30, 1931 in Montgomery, AL to the late Felix and Edna Brendle. After his education, Buddy proudly went on to serve in the Korean War. In 1953 Buddy successfully pursued a career in the fire equipment business until his retirement in 2003. Buddy was a tireless advocate for the Montgomery County Board of Education serving for several years on their board. Buddy was also an active member of The Truitt Bible Fellowship Class at First Baptist Church and loved his participation with their Caring Center. Buddy is survived by his four children, Hal (Natalie), Idus (Laura), Jo (Mike), Kent (Wendy) and grandchildren Blair, Brandy and Blakely Brendle, Ann Morgan Graham, Drew, Paige Brendle, Brantley Thompson, Carson Yates and Gray, Cate Scott and Brooks Brendle and great grandchild Kee Graham. Other survivors include siblings Pat Dorsey (Joel), Bill Brendle (Diana), Kit Brendle (Gail), and Becky Jaye and two beloved cousins, Brooksie and Jerry Wynne. Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 5-7 at Leak Memory. A Celebration Service of Buddy's life will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with a graveside to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include Drew Brendle, Carson Yates, Hunter Brendle, O'Keefe Graham, Hudson Thompson and LeRoy Crenshaw. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to First Baptist Church Caring Center. The family would like to thank AlaCare for their support and care.
