Harold was born in Palestine, TX on August 20, 1936, to Winfred and Lula Mae Neal. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1954. After graduation, he volunteered for service in the US Air Force where he was awarded the Bronze Star, Commendation Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters, Commendation Meritorious Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Good Conduct Medal. He served for 21 years and retired in March 1975. He had a second career in Dallas, TX as materials manager for a jet engine overhaul company retiring in 1995 and moving to Montgomery, Al.
He and Carolyn enjoyed lots of travel throughout their 42-year marriage. They became involved with First United Methodist Church after moving to Montgomery. Harold participated in many ministries such as Fix-it Shop, bus driver, mission trips on local, national and international levels. He also served on the board for T.S. Morris Elementary School Partner's Alliance where he was instrumental with fundraising, landscaping, and tutoring.
He was very humble and loved his family passionately. The common thread that ran through his life, be it military, ministries, or family, he always put others first and dedicated himself to serving others.
Harold was admired and respected by many. He is missed and will be remembered with much love.
No service will be performed per his wishes.
