

Harold "Woody" Woodman Jr, age 95, a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 21st, 2026. He was born on April 9, 1931, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Harold "Sandy" Woodman Sr, and Sophia "Mollie" Sacco Woodman.
He attended Sidney Lanier High School. While at Lanier, he served in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Later, he joined and served during the Korean War. He attended the University of Alabama and earned a B.S. in Marketing and later an M.S. in Counseling. Woody was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and other honorary societies in education.
He worked with the Alabama Rehabilitation Service and the U.S. Veterans Administration for over 32 years before retiring from the U.S.V.A. Woody enjoyed serving and helping veterans and their wives, children, and others in overcoming their limitations through medical treatment, education, and employment training. He served St. James in many capacities for over 50 years. He was affectionately called the Peppermint Man.
Woody was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Freda Parsons Woodman, and his beloved siblings: Frank Angelo Woodman, Jesse Morrow, Delia Thornton, Stanley Woodman, and Margaret Lammon.
Woody is survived by his loving children: Diane Woodman Bailey (Joseph) of Montgomery, Alabama; Wendy Woodman Hallford of Montgomery, Alabama; Jennifer Woodman Aughtman of Montgomery, Alabama; and Harold Edward Woodman (Kyra) of Helena, Alabama.
He was the proud grandfather of Jacob Williams (Terri), Megan (Kelly) Burney, Wilson Hallford (Grace), Mason Hallford, Josey Aughtman Tutt (Wallace), Graves Aughtman, Alexander Woodman (Courtney), Haley Woodman Leh (Edward), and Kylie Woodman Falcione (Caleb).
He was the great-grandfather of Tucker Burney, Gianna Burney, Aaryanna Burney, Drake Woodman, James Wallace Tutt V, Kenna Woodman, and Whitten Hallford.
Woody's legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the lives he touched with his warmth and strength.
Family and Friends Visitation will be held at St James Church , 9045 Vaugh Rd, Montgomery, AL 36117, US, on June 28, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by A Celebration of Life Church Service at St James Church , 9045 Vaughn Rd, Montgomery, AL 36117, US, on June 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
