Harry Aaron Corbin, 96, passed away on July 15, 2018. Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ida Ruth James Corbin, a granddaughter, Dawn Corbin, and a great-grandson, Clint Kuntz and son-in-law, Ed Kennedy.
He is survived by four daughters, Dodie (Billy) Blue, Carol (Ed) Kennedy, Joy (Jackie) Bozeman, Harriett (Larry) Adams and son, Harry Aaron (Lynn) Corbin; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 11, 1922, Harry joined the Army in September of 1940, and fought bravely until his discharge in August of 1945. He earned a Purple Heart, American Defense Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with a Silver Star and a Bronze Arrowhead.
Harry finished high school under the GI Bill while working at the Montgomery Advertiser. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked until his retirement.
He enjoyed skin diving, photography, boating, music, collecting stuff and being with family and friends. Harry was an avid reader. His proudest accomplishment, other than his wife and family, was his service to his country in World War II.
His visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. Services will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial with full military honor will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, and pallbearers will be the grandsons.
