

Hazel Bozeman Phillps was preceded in death by her parents, Robert H. and Bessie B. Bozeman, LeGrand, Al. her husbands, Wavery P. Browder, Joseph D. Harris and Robert Stanley Phillips, Sr. sister, Helen Cutts, and a niece Brenda Cutts. She is survived by two sisters, Margie Andrews and Bobbie Williams and her nieces and nephews, Ginger (Guy) Phelps, Rhonda (Phillip) Feibish, Buddy (Debbie ) Cutts, Mitzi (Benny) Speigner, Jim (Charlie) Williams; Bob (Dene’) Williams. Great nieces and nephews, Drew (Rebekah) and Zack Hughes (Molly), Jude and Isabella Williams. Sara (Matt) Young. One great nephew Rhett Hughes, great great nieces Riley Anne and Reese Hughes.
She leaves her loving special family, Genie (Joe) Goodreault, Elise (Alex) Van Drunen, Mattie and Joey Goodreault and Taylor Phillips; also special family Jody ( Donna), Steve (Sissy) Harris and Kim Bath, Michael Martin and Brad Harris.
Hazel was born at LeGrand, AL. She quit school after finishing the ninth grade to go to work in her father’s garage during World War 2. She was a member of the American Rosie Riveter Association. After the war, she took a Business Course, went to work for the City of Montgomery and worked in three different departments. The Municipal Court, Police Department and retired after 25 years as Retirement Systems Administrator.
After retirement she traveled 48 states in a motor home with her husband , Joe Harris, serving as Alabama State Director of Good Sam RV Club and nearly 20 countries. She organized a new Chapter of Daughter of the American Revolution in Prattville, ATAGI Chapter, on April 21, 2012 with 31 members . She was Historian to Alabama SAR Ladies Auxillary 2007-2012. She served on the Comala Credit Union, Supervisory, for 15 years. She served as Secretary to Montgomery Chapter of Credit Unions 1980-1981. She was Treasurer to the Board of Trustees, Holiday Shores, Inc. 1974-1975. She was a past officer in the Alabama Business and Professional Womens Club, The past President of Retired Officers Wives Club, 2010-2011 and 2013-2014; member of Mayflower Society; Past Worthy Matron of Elizabeth Armstrong Chapter #10 OES 1975-1976 and past Worthy Matron High Priestess of Palestine Shrine #3 OWSOJ 1979-1980. She was also a lifetime member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #11. She was widowed three times.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Leak Memory Chapel, located at 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, on October 15, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Celebration of Life Chapel Service will follow at the same location beginning at 11:00 am.
A Graveside Committal Service will take place at Hills Chapel Cemetery in Grady, Alabama, on October 15, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
