
Hazel Helen Goodson, 84, formerly of Prattville, Alabama and a resident of Cookeville, Tennessee, died in Cookeville on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Stan Holt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. Internment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Goodson was born July 4, 1926 in Ancona, Illinois, the daughter of John and Margaretha Barbara (Schieler) Crow. She graduated in 1944 as valedictorian at Long Point High School, Long Point, Illinois, and attended Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois. She served for six years in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. Before her retirement, she was employed as a quality control supervisor at Saluto Foods Corp., Montgomery, and later as an electrician’s helper and accountant for her husband. She was a member of Trinity Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Goodson is survived by daughters Barbara Goodson (and husband Jeff Austen) of Cookeville, and Patricia Goodson (and husband Dean Roddick) of Laramie, Wyoming; brother Aldace Crow of Riverside, California; and grandchildren Martha Austen and Jesse Austen of Cookeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Goodson, who died May 22, 2011, by a sister, Kathryn Klendworth, and brothers Raymond and Burdell Crow.
