

Hearl Dee Calvert, age 87, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021. Hearl was born on May 28, 1934, in Cullman County, Alabama. He was in the grocery business from a young age, until he and Genny went to serve as dorm parents at Florida College in Temple Terrace, FL, for a total of 19 years. They returned to Montgomery, and he continued in grocery until the age of 83. He was proceeded in death by his father, Lincoln Calvert, his mother, Vera Stricklin Calvert, and his two brothers, Owen Calvert and Vern Calvert. Hearl leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Geneva Tillery Calvert, his children, Celia Calvert Minchew, Steve Calvert, Jody Calvert and Joel Calvert, 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his brother, Jerry Calvert, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Kindred Home Care Hospice, especially his nurse Ella, for taking such good care of him.
The family would also like to invite all family and friends to a visitation at 10 AM, Wednesday, August 18 at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery, AL, and for a celebration of Hearl's life at 11 AM. Family and friends will speak and reminisce, dress nice casual if you wish, overalls preferred (Bug Tussle, AL formal)!
