

Helen F. Gordon, 97, was called home by her Savior on July 17, 2026, while surrounded by her family. She was the middle of 11 children born to Zettie and Clarence Ferguson. She was married to Hugh Gordon for 69 years and they resided in Hope Hull, Alabama, for most of those years. She was a member of Hope Hull United Church for 72 years.
Helen and Hugh were blessed with three daughters, and loved many of the neighborhood children as their own. She was lovingly known as Momma, MaMa, and Ms. Helen. She is remembered by many for her warm genuine hugs, her loving nature, her generosity, and her faithfulness to God. She believed in doing unto others as you would have them do to you.
Helen worked outside the home at various times, but her calling was that of a mother and homemaker. The foundation of her life was her family. She was involved in numerous activities and events for the church, community and school.
She enjoyed sharing her time and talents with her family and friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Gordon; her daughter, Dale Fowler; her son-in-law, Larry Kelly; her parents, Zettie and Clarence Ferguson; and eight siblings.
She is survived by her daughters Wanda Kelly, and Renee (Mike) Sanford; grandchildren, Nichole (Sean) Gibson, Alan Fowler, Ashley Kell, Ron Kelly, Lori (Billy) Maness, Michael (Matt) Sanford; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Anne Smith and Hazel Tomkowski.
